Three Things You Can Do To Make Sure Your Contact Lenses Remain Safe And Clear

Contact lenses are delicate things. Sure their uses are quite big but they ultimately are fragile and could be misplaced very easily. If you are a first time user of contact lenses, you may have experienced common problems with them like misplacing your contacts, accidentally losing them, dropping them all over the place and even forgetting to put in some solution in their carrying cases.

When you've made the big switch from glasses to contacts, there are a lot of things you need to learn. So if you weren't paying attention to your doctor when he was explaining to you the ropes of living with contact lenses, try writing down some of these tips for you and the future of your contact lenses.

1. Store lenses in their proper storage cases.

This means that you've got to use the storage case that came with your contact lenses when you purchased them. If you don't really like the case that came along with your contacts, you could buy a new one but make sure that its purpose is primarily for contact lenses. Having the proper storage case means that it is manufactured primarily for storing contact lenses and that these would work perfectly with the cleaning solution that you use. Using the right storage case and making sure that it stays clean at all times will definitely help extend the life of your contact lenses considerably – not to mention the clarity of the lens when it's really clean.

2. Make sure your hands are clean before you touch your contact lenses.

It doesn't hurt to make sure that there isn't any speck of dirt on your hands if you plan to put on some contact lenses. Can you imagine putting on some contact lenses after you've gotten your hands dirty? Think of all the potentially harmful dust and dirt particles that could stick to your contact lenses. This won't only destroy your contact lenses but it would also potentially risk further damage to your eyes as well. Washing hands will only take a couple of minutes.

Always remember that contact lenses are very delicate things that must be handled with the best of care. Your eyes are even more important than all the contact lenses in the world combined. If clean hands can help in making sure your eyes won't get any dirt on them and that your contact lenses remain as clean as you had gotten them from their storage case, then why not do it.

3. Take those contact lenses out if you need to take a dip in the pool, or anywhere.

Contact lenses can come off easily when you submerge it in water. And when you go swimming, that would be a possible opportunity to actually lose your contact lenses. Now if you lose them in the pool, you're as good as dead if you still wish to try and find it. Aside from that, the chemicals found in a pool or wherever could also potentially damage your contact lenses.
